Demister is used at the top of packing tower or at the collecting tray between two packing plates.
1. They separate droplets from the airflow. So, the droplet from packing tower emissions, and/or the droplet entrainment from one stage to the next stage is minimized.
2. Demister's droplet separation can be realized by means of mass transfer inertia. Therefore, the effectiveness of the droplets is reduced with the decrease of the droplet diameter.
3. There is difference between wire mesh demister and surface impact demister (mainly blade structure).
4. The wire mesh demister's shortcoming is droplets accumulation that leads to expanded droplets, which are discharged from the demister.
5. This kind of demister is used especially in the system unfixed. In the blade demister, airflow deflects several times, which makes droplets impact the surface and flow downwards. Through the use of top nozzle of demister, solid size variation can be avoided or reduced.
